About the Practice . . .

Studio KEW was born out of a desire to work more closely with clients, designers and building users and it is underpinned by meaningful collaboration. From small families to large organisations, we aim to deliver schemes that not only meet our clients’ brief and budget, but also that seek to blend architecture, interiors, and landscapes, to create personal, unique and beautiful spaces.

We have a broad professional experience portfolio of projects including public and private sector housing, education, ecclesiastical, masterplanning, mixed use, commercial and retail, from concept design and planning to procurement and on site contract administration.

Studio KEW is also a teaching practice with connections to a number of Higher Education institutes across the UK. Teaching offers a unique opportunity to work within a highly creative and liberal environment - alongside both students and colleagues, to develop innovative solutions to design problems. It provides an insight into future trends, both in terms of design and ways of working. The students of today become the designers, clients, and building users of tomorrow, and understanding their needs and cultural direction is pivotal to the practice of architecture.

About Katie . . .

After more than 10 years working in both large and small practices, Katie Wilmot established Studio KEW. Katie has built up a varied professional portfolio of projects and worked with clients including; St. Benedict’s School, Ealing; Claire’s Court School, Maidenhead; Sentinel (now Vivid) Housing Association; CBRE; and Thames Valley Housing Association, as well as a number of other private developers and families.

In keeping with the themes of community and collaboration, Katie joined the teaching staff at the University of Portsmouth in 2016. She contributes to professional practice and design units across Architecture and Interior Architecture and she considers the combination of practice and teaching to be fundamentally critical to the success of both.
